Insurance broker Haake Companies, based in Kansas City, Kan., said it has acquired Thompkins & Company of Alameda, Calif. Terms of the deal were not released.
Thompkins is a 70-year-old firm that specializes in providing insurance solutions for the Masonic fraternity on a national basis.
Thompkins has developed an array of proprietary coverages for the various Masonic organizations and markets both directly and through retail agents. The program operates under the trade name of the Thompkins Masonic Insurance Program and is available in all 50 states.
Tom Klug, a managing director at Haake, will oversee business development and expansion of the Thompkins Masonic Insurance Program from the Haake home office in Kansas City.
Haake was the 2005 winner of the National Underwriter Commercial Insurance Agency of the Year Award.
