Zurich Financial Services Group said it will expand its services for corporate customers into the Asia-Pacific region with the opening of a new business unit based in Hong Kong.
The new business unit, Global Corporate in Asia-Pacific (GCiAP), will cover three regions: Japan, Greater China/South East Asia and Australia, the firm said.
Corporate customers whose revenue is $250 million or higher will be the operation's focus, the company explained.
Hugh Robson has been named chief executive officer of GCiAP, Zurich said.
An aim of the unit will be to replicate the success Zurich Global Corporate has achieved in Europe and North America and to leverage Zurich's existing presence, the Zurich, Switzerland-based company said.
GCiAP will closely collaborate with Zurich's International Businesses unit to benefit from its existing strong presence in the Asia-Pacific market.
