Ronald A. Sandler, the former CEO of Lloyd's, was named chairman of the board of Hamilton, Bermuda-based Ironshore Inc.
Mr. Sandler joined the board in October. He replaces Bob Clements, who has been serving as interim chairman since the founding of Ironshore in late 2006.
Mr. Clements will remain a director.
Mr. Sandler was chief executive officer of Lloyd's from 1995 to 1999. He has held senior positions with National Westminster Bank plc; Exco plc; Martin Bierbaum Group plc; Booz Allen & Hamilton Inc.; and Boston Consulting Group Inc. Ironshore said he is currently a director of Fortis, Computacenter plc and several private companies.
Ironshore provides specialty commercial property-casualty coverage.
