Audrey Brown was named chief of staff of Florida's Office of Insurance Regulation by Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty.

Ms. Brown has served as the deputy chief of staff since June, overseeing cabinet affairs, technology, market research as well as National Association of Insurance Commissioners and human resources functions.

Prior to joining the department, Ms. Brown worked in both the private and public sectors. She was the manager of contract compliance and administration for AvMed Health Plans in Gainesville, Fla., for nearly two years. She oversaw the compliance function for contracts, product benefit designs and marketing materials, ensuring they met appropriate standards for applicable laws and regulations.

Before AvMed, Ms. Brown spent more than five years working for the state of Florida, serving first in the governor's external affairs office and then in his appointments office.

Ms. Brown joined the Office of Insurance Regulation in 2003 as the cabinet and legislative affairs coordinator.
