The London-based BMS reinsurance brokerage announced today that it has hired away a nine-member property-casualty brokerage team from Cooper Gay Intermediaries to conduct operations from a base in Minneapolis.
The firm said the unit will complement BMS's existing activities in London and North America, and will be led by senior brokers Jim Brost and Mike Joyce, who will both hold the title of executive vice president.
“The acquisition of this team boosts our rapidly growing presence in North America, and will give us a further strong base in Minneapolis–a major reinsurance hub,” said Hugo Crawley, chairman of BMS Intermediaries.
BMS noted that Mr. Brost has 30-plus years of experience in the p-c market and has expertise in the agricultural treaty industry. He was previously chief executive officer and agriculture practice leader at Cooper Gay Intermediaries in Minneapolis.
The firm said Mr. Joyce has more than 25 years of reinsurance experience and was previously executive vice president at Cooper Gay Intermediaries in Minneapolis.
“BMS is an established and fast-growing intermediary, which provides our team with an excellent platform,” said Mr. Brost. “We look forward to enhancing BMS's business in the Minneapolis market and introducing clients to the BMS group.”
