Chicago-based insurance broker Aon announced yesterday that four brokers from Willis Group Holdings have joined the firm's construction services group in Los Angeles.

Joining Aon from Willis construction are Michael R. Szot, Jim Reilly, Gary L. Stevens and Micah Chen. Aon had no comment about their move to the rival brokerage.

Mr. Szot was named managing director and executive vice president.

Aon noted that he has more than 30 years experience in the brokerage industry and said he will be responsible for designing and implementing owner and contractor controlled insurance programs and surety placements for contractors, residential builders and developers.

Mr. Szot spent 14 years with Willis construction, where he was a managing director.

Aon said Mr. Reilly has more than 25 years experience and he will serve as a senior vice president. At Willis he was also a senior vice president.

Mr. Stevens, named senior vice president, has 18 years experience in the construction insurance industry. He was a senior vice president at Willis.

Mr. Chen, named vice president, was also a vice president at Willis.

In a statement, Peter Arkley, president and chief executive officer of Aon construction services group, said, “These individuals instantly enhance our profile within the middle market construction arena and will help to maintain Aon's presence in the large contractor space and its lead market in the United States.”

A Willis company spokeswoman issued a statement saying, “While we have no comment at this time on the personnel matter, we remain enthusiastic about our global leadership position and demonstrated client value proposition in the construction industry.

“We can say with complete confidence that we have the best construction professionals in the brokerage industry.”
