The Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of the Southern Tier Inc. said they have given their Insurance Person of Distinction Award to Kathy Weinheimer.
Ms. Weinheimer is senior vice president, Industry Relations & Education for the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of New York Inc.
The group said Ms. Weinheimer was selected because of “her tireless work for IIABNY and all of its local associations,” especially the IIABST.
Her award was presented during the 31st annual Binghamton Insurance Day Conference Thursday at the Binghamton, N.Y. Regency Hotel.
The organization said Ms. Weinheimer's insurance career began with the Excelsior Insurance Company in Syracuse where she performed various duties during nine years of service. Since joining IIABNY in 1985, Ms. Weinheimer has provided industry support, education and legislative advocacy for the not-for-profit trade association's 1,900 member agencies and their 18,000 employees.
Ms. Weinheimer holds a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters designation as well as Accredited Advisor of Insurance. Ms Weinheimer is the current education chair for the Syracuse Chapter of CPCU, the 2008 chairperson for the Syracuse Insurance Day Conference committee, and a member of the Syracuse Insurance Professionals and Federation of New York Insurance Professionals.
