The Professional Insurance Agents of Florida has named its new officers for the upcoming coming year. PIA CEO Mark O'Connell said the new team will help the association continue its efforts to keep agents informed of legislative and regulatory issues, education opportunities, and other services designed to help agents develop their businesses. “We are pleased to have this dynamic team of insurance professionals lead our association as we continue to advocate, educate, and serve as a resource for our members,” he said.
Phil Zelman will serve as the PIA president. Zelman is the vice president and co-owner of the Coral Gables-based NCF Insurance Associates and is responsible for all aspects of the agency's operations. He has been an independent agent for 19 years with experience in both the property casualty and life and health care fields.
Brian Sambeg will serve as the association's president elect. He is the president and founder of the Boca Raton-based Southern Insurance Agency, where he oversees the sales and management-development functions. He is licensed as a general lines and life insurance agent.
PIA has named Carol Everhart, CIRMS, as its new vice president. She is a vice president and account executive for the St. Petersburg-based BB&T IIer Wall & Shonter Insurance. She has more than 25 years of experience in the industry, specializing in commercial residential coverage.
PIA has also named Kym Godwin, CISR, as the association's secretary and treasurer. Godwin founded the Deland-based Godwin Insurance Agency in 2001. The agency specializes in providing homeowners' coverage to consumers. She has been active in PIA since 1998 and served as a board member since 2003.
