The Casualty Actuarial Society said it will hold its annual meeting Nov. 11-14 in Chicago, with a focus on insurance industry profitability, capacity, regulation and other factors influencing the current market.
The meeting will be held at the Marriott Magnificent Mile with four general sessions planned.
CAS said sessions will involve a panel of insurance industry experts considering the implications of today's market cycle, with its slowed premium growth and excess capital, and contrast it to the 1997-1998 time frame.
Also planned is a discussion of the pros and cons of federal insurance regulation proposals and an exploration of enterprise risk management that examines the steps being taken by insurers and reinsurers to focus on enterprisewide risks and opportunities.
Additionally, speakers will address the actuary's role in the ERM process and how capital market microstructure analysis can be applied to the insurance markets.
There will also be over 30 concurrent sessions addressing other issues.
Todd Buchholz, former White House director of economic policy and a regular on the business news channel CNBC, will be the featured speaker.
Details and an online registration form are available on the CAS Web Site at www.casact.org.
