Peter Hearn, the chief executive officer of Willis Re, a subsidiary of Willis Group Holdings, was honored with Lloyd's U.S. Reinsurance Broker of the Year 2006 award.
Mr. Hearn received the award on Wednesday in a ceremony held at the Lloyd's Building in London.
He was selected for this award by a committee composed of Wendy Baker, president of Lloyd's America; Jonathan Gray, head of property group, Beazley Group plc; Jonathan Parry, active underwriter, Limit Underwriting Ltd.; and Andrew Carrier, active underwriter, RJ Kiln.
The award reflects the key role of an intermediary in Lloyd's most important market, the United States. It was introduced five years ago to honor individuals within the U.S. brokerage community for outstanding contributions to the Lloyd's market.
"I am honored to accept this recognition on behalf of all my colleagues in the United States," said Mr. Hearn in a statement. "The success Willis Re has enjoyed is a direct result of a very talented team of people with whom I am extremely proud to be associated. The early training I received in the Lloyd's market coupled with the close relationships I established have proved to be invaluable to my business career, for which I am most grateful."
