Jeffrey T. Bowman will be named president and chief executive officer of Crawford & Company, the Atlanta-based claims management company, replacing Thomas W. Crawford, 64, who will be named chairman of the board, the company said.

Jesse Crawford, 58, the current chairman, will remain with the firm as the chairman of the executive committee of the board of directors, it was announced.

The appointments are effective Jan. 1.

Neither of the Crawford's are related, according to a regulatory filing.

Mr. Bowman, 54, is currently chief operating officer of Crawford's global property-casualty services unit. He joined Crawford in 1990 after Crawford purchased a company he partly owned.

In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Mr. Bowman will receive a base salary of $700,000 and a performance bonus based on a corporate plan the company is still developing.

He has served in a number of roles throughout his career with the firm, moving from London to Atlanta in 1995 when he was appointed vice president of international finance. He was appointed president of Crawford's international operations in 2001 and was named to his current post in 2005.
