WASHINGTON–A hearing on federal and state insurance regulatory reform issues will be held by a key subcommittee of the House Financial Services Committee next Wednesday.
The proceedings, in which witnesses will include representatives of key industry trade groups and a representative of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, will focus on the outlook for reform of insurance regulation at both the federal and state level, according to several industry officials.
Their testimony will be given to the Financial Services panel's Capital Markets Subcommittee, chaired by Rep. Paul Kanjorski, D-Pa.
Besides the NAIC, witnesses will include officials of the American Council of Life Insurers, the American Insurance Association and the Council of Insurance Agents and Brokers.
Representatives of the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies and the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America will also testify.
The hearing is the first of at least two, and possibly, three hearings to be held by the FSC panel on insurance regulatory issues.
