The New Jersey Young Insurance Professionals and the Professional Insurance Agents of New Jersey Inc. said they are urging college students to submit their resumes to an insurance job Web site.

Their effort is titled Project Y (www.projectynj.org), which the associations describe as a joint effort to generate interest in the insurance business by young people.

The resumes will contribute to an online database where potential employers can recruit new members and those seeking work can discover job opportunities in the insurance industry.

"It is clear that the insurance industry is aging and the need to attract new blood is at an all-time high," said Jack Lynn, president of PIANJ. "The gap between the number of professional independent agents retiring and the number entering the field is wide.

"Young people today are just not aware of how dynamic and rewarding a career in insurance can be, and the opportunities are endless."

Posting a resume to the online database requires students to join NJYIP at a discounted membership price of $20 a year.
