Frederick H. Eppinger, chief executive of Hanover Insurance Group Inc., has added the post of chief financial officer following the abrupt resignation of John J. Leahy, who quit 18 days after taking the job.
Mr. Leahy, who the company on Tuesday had resigned for unspecified "personal reasons," had also held the position of executive vice president. He replaced Edward J. Parry III, who left Hanover on Aug. 31 after 15 years to pursue "other career opportunities."
Mr. Leahy joined The Hanover after serving in key business and strategy roles with PepsiCo. Inc. and Keane Inc., a Boston-based business and information technology services firm.
The company said it has begun to search for a successor CFO, and in the interim Mr. Eppinger and Warren E. Barnes, acting principal accounting officer, will assume Mr. Leahy's responsibilities.
