The claims management firm Crawford & Company, as part of its acquisition of ClaimStar.net, said it has reached an agreement with Property Loss Research Bureau (PLRB, which had a partnership agreement with ClaimStar).
ClaimStar, a provider of distance learning and Learning Management Systems (LMS) hosting services, based in Middleton, Wis., has been rebranded Crawford Online.
Headed by Colm Keenan, who remains with the firm, ClaimStar was acquired by Crawford in April for an undisclosed amount.
Crawford explained that ClaimStar.net has provided the property and casualty industry with online training and technical references through their relationship with Downers Grove, Ill.-based PLRB.
The firm said PLRB will continue to use ClaimStar software but will have a reduced connection with the firm.
Mr. Keenan said that ClaimStar as Crawford Online is preparing to release to the industry a new suite of online courses and learning management systems.
Bill Beach, senior vice president of Training & Development for Crawford, said, “ClaimStar.net has had a long relationship with PLRB, and we are pleased that both Crawford clients and PLRB members will continue to benefit from such innovative learning tools.”
Crawford Online, which provides adjuster training among its products, will be offered as a standalone Internet learning solution, as well as a blended learning solution, incorporating classroom and online learning. It also makes available both programs and LMS hosting services, as well as online continuing education units for the industry, Crawford said.
“We intend to augment our industry-leading training position with Crawford Online and offer this educational service in North America and to our global clients,” said Tom Crawford, president and chief executive officer of Crawford & Company.
PLRB, it was explained, will continue to host its current and additional programs to its members as a benefit of membership, with plans to expand its offerings through the distance learning methodology.
