The International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE) said it has added a core course, an introduction to alternative risk transfer, which awards five professional education credits.
The deadline for registration is Sept. 12, with the first course beginning Sept. 18.
ICCIE said the captive insurance course begins with an explanation of the purpose of alternative risk transfer–a method for finding more efficient ways of financing risk.
A definition of alternative risk, key terms used in the captive industry, various types of captives, and the pros and cons of risk funding approaches will also be covered.
In addition to self-paced reading and assignment work, students will be required to attend four Web conferences, for which broadband Internet connection is recommended.
ICCIE said other upcoming courses include:
o “Protecting the Captive: Predicting Risk, Reinsurance and other Transfer Mechanisms”
o “Forming and Operating a Captive”
o “Business Ethics in the Captive Insurance Industry”
Further details can be obtained by contacting ICCIE at 802-651-9050. The group's Web site is www.iccie.org.
