Chicago-based insurance broker Aon Corporation said it has named a Guy Carpenter chairman to head its Aon Re Global unit.
Geoffrey Bromley was named vice chairman of Aon Re Global. He has nearly 30 years of experience in the reinsurance industry. Most recently he served as chairman of Guy Carpenter's European and Asia Pacific operations, which included responsibility for Africa and the Middle East. In addition to that role, he was a member of Guy Carpenter's executive committee and served on the board of Marsh Ltd in the U.K.
Guy Carpenter and Marsh are subsidiaries of the New York-based global services firm Marsh & McLennan Companies.
Aon said that in his role, Mr. Bromley will lead Aon Re's operations in the United Kingdom, Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific.
Greg Case, president and chief executive officer of Aon Corp., said Mr. Bromley's appointment "builds on an area of strength within our organization and will allow us to deliver even greater distinctive value to our clients around the world."
Mr. Bromley is scheduled to join Aon in February 2008 after he fulfills his responsibilities with Guy Carpenter. He will be based in London.
The broker also announced that Sim Segal joined the company's Enterprise Risk Management practice as a managing director in Aon Global Risk Consulting.
Mr. Segal will lead the ERM service offering in the United States, responsible for product and service offerings, product development and thought leadership.
Mr. Segal joins Aon from Deloitte Consulting, where he spent five years and led the development of Deloitte's ERM modeling approach and tools.
