The National Association of Professional Insurance Agents said eight more insurance companies have signed on as sponsors of the association's agent branding program, Local Agents Serving Main Street America.

The Alexandria, Va.-based association said that GMAC Insurance Management Corporation, Hastings Mutual Insurance Company, Home Mutual Fire Insurance Company, The IMT Group, Iowa Mutual Insurance Company, Mercury Insurance Group, Penn National Insurance and Ramsgate Managing Insurance have signed on to the program.

PIA National Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer Len Brevik said in a statement, "By signing on as sponsors of the PIA Branding Program, carriers demonstrate their commitment to the success of the independent agency distribution system and the continuing prosperity of their professional agent sales force."

There is no fee for carriers to join the program, and PIA said it prefers the carriers use their money to support advertising initiatives of agents.

The branding program is an advertising and promotional campaign available at no additional cost to all PIA member agencies throughout the nation. The program currently consists of 21 print advertisements with 251 variations that PIA members can run in their local publications.
