The Tampa, Fla.-based Institute for Business & Home Safety that works to reduce disaster effects said its annual conference will be held Nov. 8-9 in Orlando, Fla.

IBHS said the meeting at the Rosen Centre Hotel will bring together insurance industry professionals, government officials, academics and others dedicated to reducing property losses. Speakers will include experts in earthquake and forest fire catastrophe.

Attendees will learn how to reduce growing risks from natural disasters and other property loss events at the conference, which has as its theme "Stronger Together," IBHS said.

Scheduled as the keynote speaker for the conference is Alex Soto, president of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America and InSource Inc. in Miami, Fla.

Others who will address the meeting include: Robert P. Hartwig, president and chief economist of the Insurance Information Institute; Sarah M. McCaffrey of the U.S. Forest Service; and Lucile M. Jones of the Southern California Earthquake Hazards Team, U.S. Geological Survey.

This year staff members will hold breakout sessions to showcase current programs to help attendees better utilize their membership in the organization, IBHS said

The rate for persons enrolling before Sept. 5 is $350 for IBHS Members, $370 for attendees associated with government/academic institutions and $400 for non-IBHS members.
