California Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner recently presented the results of an undercover operation that led to the arrest of five contractors during the time of the Angora Fire in South Lake Tahoe.

Investigators from the El Dorado County District Attorney's Office and the California Contractors State License Board teamed with the California Department of Insurance's Enforcement Branch to bring down unlicensed public adjusters and contractors involved in attempts to scam victims of the wild fires.

None of the suspects arrested had city/county business licenses or a contractor's license. Those arrested were:

o Steve Killion of Marysville, CA, co-owner of Rossier Home Restoration o Kurt Edward Kimm of Placerville, CA, owner of Kurt Kimm Trucking and Equipment o Troy Meadows of Gardnerville, NV, co-owner of B&T Services o Chase Rossier of Yuba City, CA, co-owner of Rossier Home Restoration o William Tanner of Gardnerville, NV, co-owner of B&T Services

Investigators have continued to patrol the disaster area to verify the license and insurance status of those claiming to be public adjusters or contractors.
