The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers said James A. Rodda, a certified public accountant, has been hired as the organization's chief financial officer.

The appointment was announced last week by Ken A. Crerar, the Washington, D.C.-based association's president.

Mr. Rodda comes to the CIAB from Resources Global Professionals, a company headquartered in Costa Mesa, Calif., that provides professional accounting services to large corporations.

Mr. Rodda has a background in accounting and controller issues as well as Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, the association said.

His prior experience includes five years as director of finance for Universal Service Administrative Company, a not-for-profit organization, where he set up the accounting and finance functions and directed the day-to-day operations. He also spent five years as a revenue accountant with MCI Communications.

Mr. Rodda replaces Gerry Van De Velde, who resigned to pursue other interests, the association said.
