The Boca Raton-based National Insurance Underwriters has announced a new homeowner's insurance program to offer coverage for hard to insure properties. Dubbed “Homegard”, the program offers a number of insurance products to help individuals find coverage in the market. The program includes guaranteed issue coverage up to $750,000, no credit scoring, and all risk perils. The program also covers seasonal residents as well as owner occupied and tenant occupied.

“At a time when many major insurers have stopped writing homeowners' insurance, we are excited to offer this product to agents throughout the country,” said Craig Calver, national sales director for the NIU's property and casualty division. “We believe that Homegard provides the proper mix of niche and desired coverage for difficult to insure situations that agents have been seeking for some time and that they'll want to add to their properties”

NIU is a subsidiary of National Safe Drivers, which is one of the largest suppliers of auto-related supplemental products for insurance agencies around the country. The company provides personal lines and commercial insurance products by using 2,000 independent agencies in 40 states, representing a written premium in excess of $50 million. The company's Homegard product has an A-rating by A.M. Best.
