Diamond Glass, Inc., a provider of automotive glass replacement and repair services, and Belron US, Inc., a provider of property and casualty claim management solutions and vehicle glass products and services, have agreed to settle litigation pending in a U.S. district court. Both companies will dismiss with prejudice their respective claims in the litigation.

Belron US and Diamond said that the settlement will allow them to work towards advancing best practices for the glass industry, including claim referrals involving insurance companies.

“As part of our settlement, Belron US and Diamond agreed to address certain activities that exist within the vehicle glass industry,” said Dan Wilson, president and CEO of Belron US. “[Diamond President] Bill Cogswell and I both agree there is a need to discontinue certain improper marketing practices that have become prevalent in our industry — practices that include providing or paying improper incentives for insurance related vehicle glass job referrals.”

Both companies denied participating in these programs, but said other companies doing so should follow their lead and discontinue these practices to increase levels of professionalism and workmanship and promoting fair competition.
