Chicago-based insurance broker Aon said it plans to apply for a license from the Qatar Financial Center Regulatory Authority.

A. Latif AlRayes, chief executive officer of Aon Bahrain and Middle East, said in a statement that the firm plans to open its office in Qatar in the latter part of this year.

Roelof Hendriks, the CEO of Europe, Middle East and Africa, said growth in the Middle East and Qatar make it strategically important for Aon to be part of the market there.
