Farmers' Insurance Group said its agents and employees recently staged the largest single-day fundraiser in March of Dimes history, raising more than $2.6 million.
The fundraising program held yesterday, called "Be a Hero for Babies Day," marks the second year the Los Angeles-based carrier sponsored the program. Last year, the insurer raised $1.44 million, surpassing its goal of $1 million.
As part of its commitment, the company made a matching contribution of $250,000, March of Dimes said.
The $2.6 million is in addition to $1.8 million raised by Farmers' team members during WalkAmerica, bringing Farmers' total donation this year to over $4 million.
The March of Dimes is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health of babies.
