Richmond, Va.-based insurance brokerage Hilb Rogal & Hobbs Company said it plans to acquire Charlton Manley Inc., a Kansas-based retail property-casualty insurance agency and brokerage firm and employee benefits consulting firm.

The firm did not release terms of the deal but said the acquisition is expected to close July 1.

HRH said Charlton Manley reported over $10 million in annual revenues in 2006. Primarily a midmarket general lines agency, Charlton Manley's areas of specialization include construction, medical professional liability, truckers' liability, schools and school athletic programs. The company began operations in 1982.

Charlton Manley's staff of 70 will remain in their offices in Lawrence, Topeka and Overland Park, Kan., expanding HRH's current Kansas presence beyond Wichita and Pittsburg.

HRH said the firm will join its central region under the leadership of William L. Chaufty, vice president and central regional director.
