Kansas City, Mo.-based insurance broker Lockton said its Lockton International unit has opened an office in Bermuda.

The firm said the office will focus on providing property, energy, financial lines, casualty and health care through this market.

Lockton also announced that Ed Correia will lead the development of the new business with Philip DiMeglio, formerly of JLT Risk Solutions, and William Lowe, from Aon, who join as producers.

Paul Jack, chairman of Lockton International, Global Risks said: “Bermuda has been a magnet for insurance capital since the losses of 9/11 and more recently the 2005 hurricane season. As we develop our global footprint, we felt it was essential to provide our clients with direct access to this important market.”

Mr. Correia started his career in Bermuda in 1977 with AIG and was managing director, property manager and deputy head of office for Marsh before joining Lockton.

Mr. Lowe was formerly with Aon (Bermuda) Ltd., and Mr. DiMeglio was with JLT Risk Solutions.

Lockton International was previously Alexander Forbes International Risk Services, which Lockton acquired in early November last year.
