Insight Catastrophe Group, a property catastrophe risk management and underwriting services provider, announced the appointment today of Richard Rooney as senior vice president and chief underwriting officer for its managing agency, Coastal Risk Underwriters.
The company said Mr. Rooney will be responsible for coordinating all underwriting activities.
Mr. Rooney comes to CRU from Tokio Marine Management Inc. and has more than 25 years of industry experience, the firm said.
At Tokio Marine he oversaw the company's National Highly Protected Risks department. Prior to joining Tokio Marine, he served as vice president and Northeastern property manager at Argonaut Specialty.
Mr. Rooney has also held various senior underwriting and management positions at American International Group, Global Excess Partners, Nac Reinsurance Corporation and Chubb & Son Inc. He began his underwriting career in 1980 at Wm. H. McGee.
