Munich Reinsurance Company reported a 28.5 percent net earnings increase for 2006 compared to the previous years.
The Munich-based reinsurer posted $4.8 billion in profits for the year with a combined ratio of 92.6 in reinsurance and 90.8 in primary insurance.
Chairman Nikolaus von Bomhard also announced that the 2006 dividend increased 45 percent to $6.10.
Mr. von Bomhard said the company's "Changing Gear" revitalization program helped create the corporate cultural change that led to the third-straight profitable quarter.
"What we are demanding is creativity and innovation, along with entrepreneurial thinking by our staff," he said.
The company will announce first-quarter results on May 4.
