Property Claim Services said it will hold its 2007 Catastrophe Conference next week to help insurers prepare and plan better for catastrophe events.

PCS, a unit of Jersey City, N.J.-based Insurance Services Office, said the meeting will run from April 29-May 2 in Phoenix.

The firm said that participants will hear from keynote speaker Robert P. Hartwig, president and chief economist of the Insurance Information Institute, and other industry experts.

The speakers will explore the preparation and response planning for catastrophes of increasing intensity, frequency and loss potential, PCS said.

Other listed discussion topics will include:

o Issues surrounding expected hurricane activity in the years ahead.

o The earthquake threat in California and the Missouri area's New Madrid region.

o Proposals for preparedness and response to U.S. disasters.

o A look back at Katrina.

Describing the sessions, PCS said experts will discuss topics in depth while sharing their own experiences and offering practical solutions.

The conference is targeted to professionals in claims, underwriting, actuarial, research and development, and loss control and includes interactive sessions to exchange views with industry experts.
