Thomas Sullivan, an insurance executive with a subsidiary of The Hartford, was appointed Connecticut insurance commissioner last week.
Gov. M. Jodi Rell made the appointment to replace Susan Cogswell, who resigned after serving in the post for the past seven years.
Mr. Sullivan most recently served as senior vice president of Specialty Risk Services, LLC, a subsidiary of The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. The company is one of the major property-casualty third-party administration firms, with revenues last year of $252 million.
“Tom is a highly accomplished executive who has over 20 years of experience in the property and casualty industry,” Gov. Rell said.
The new commissioner graduated from Western Connecticut State University and earned a master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Connecticut.
