The Association of California Insurance Companies (ACIC) has elected Cary Cheldin, president of Crusader Insurance Company, for a one-year term as chairman of the ACIC board of directors.
The selection came at Tuesday's annual meeting of Sacramento, Calif.-based ACIC.
Mr. Cheldin replaces GEICO counsel Cinda Smith, who was praised by the ACIC members for her hard work and dedication as chairwoman during the last two years. Traditionally, ACIC chairs serve two one-year terms.
Kathleen Bissell, assistant vice president of public affairs for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, was elected to a one-year term as vice chairwoman.
ACIC also ratified the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America's decision that Sam Sorich should continue to serve as ACIC president. ACIC is an affiliate of Des Plaines, Ill.-based PCI.
