Aon Sweden in Stockholm, a unit of the Chicago-based insurance brokerage Aon Corp., said it has acquired F?rs?kringsUtveckling AB (FUAB), an insurance carrier and brokerage firm specializing in affinity solutions, systems and service programs for large organizations.

FUAB was founded in 1991 by Thomas Skarbrandt and Hans Fredricson. The company has 14 employees handling $22.9 million (Euro EUR17.2 million) in premium volume and producing $4.3 million (EUR3.2 million) in revenue. Its portfolio includes group-based health care, personal and liability insurances for over 40,000 policyholders, according to Aon.

“I believe that both F?rs?kringsUtveckling AB and our clients were ready for a change,” said Mr. Fredricson in a statement. “Together with Aon we can make better use of the technology and capacity that we have developed over the years in order to build an even stronger offer within group insurances.”

Aon said Mr. Fredricson will work with Charlotte Lagergren, who will be appointed the new chief executive officer of FUAB later this year.

The move strengthens Aon's position in the Nordic region.

Jacob Schlawitz, Aon Sweden CEO, said the organization has been investing heavily in upgrading services. In the last months, the firm has hired several skilled insurance, risk and pension consultants for the Stockholm office.
