Employment in the insurance sector grew by more than 1 percent in the first two months of this year, according to figures released by the U.S. government last week.
The U.S. Department of Labor said that in the first two months of this year employment grew by 1.6 percent in January and 1.3 percent in February.
The industry employed more than 2.3 million in January and February, up by more than 30,000 employees for the same period last year on a seasonally adjusted average.
The department said its nonseasonally adjusted figures showed almost the same rate of growth, with employment up 1.5 percent in January to 2.32 million. February saw employment figures grow 1.3 percent from last year or by 29,000 to 2.33 million.
The department said the figures are preliminary.
