Risk Management Solutions has lowered its worst case insure loss estimate for windstorm Kyrill, which hit Europe in mid January, to between $4 billion and $5 billion.

Between $4 billion and $7 billion was the original RMS estimate.

Windstorm Kyrill on Jan. 18 caused relatively low levels of damage over an area covering nine European countries.

RMS said it has continued to collate damage and loss information since the event, allowing the uncertainty in the initial loss estimate to reduce.
