Henry S. Allen was named global leader, consumer business, for the insurance brokerage firm Marsh. The business includes the firm's affinity and program management businesses as well as its private client services division.
Mr. Allen joined Marsh in 2002 as practice leader for the global trade credit practice and head of Marsh's affinity business in Europe and the Middle East. Subsequently, he was appointed leader of the firm's private client services and small commercial practices in Europe and the Middle East.
In 2006, Mr. Allen assumed responsibility for the strategy, business development and overall growth initiatives for Marsh's consumer businesses in Latin America, Africa, Asia and the Pacific.
Before joining Marsh, Mr. Allen ran the European operations of Geocapital, a U.S.-based venture capital firm. From 1994 to 2000, he was with GE Capital, where he served in a variety of senior leadership positions in Europe. He was with European private equity provider 3i for seven years, serving in a variety of investment roles in Newcastle and Leeds in the United Kingdom.
He will report to Joseph A. Varnas, chief operating officer of Marsh.

Marsh is a unit of New York-based Marsh & McLennan Companies, a professional services firm.
