Insurance broker Willis Group Holdings named Richard T. Hynes president and chief executive officer of Willis Canada, succeeding Wole Coaxum.

The change is effective March 1.

Mr. Hynes, a native of Canada, has more than 25 years of management and industry experience in the Canadian market, the company said.

Wole Coaxum, who joined Willis in 2002, has more than 18 years of experience in various leadership positions in the insurance and financial services industries. He is leaving to pursue other interests, a spokeswoman said.

"Since joining the company in 2005, Rick Hynes has done an outstanding job as managing partner of our Toronto office, which positions him well for his transition to president and CEO," said Don Bailey, CEO of Willis North America. "Rick has the leadership qualities and determination to take Canada into the next chapter, and we are pleased to have him on our team."

Joe Plumeri, chairman and CEO of London-headquartered Willis, thanked Mr. Coaxum for his "tremendous contribution to Willis."

He noted that "Wole has successfully overseen Willis Canada in addition to serving us well in several senior roles with Willis North America Retail and throughout the company. We wish him all the best for the future."
