Insurance broker Marsh Inc. said that Feb. 26-28 it plans to host what it is calling the first ever global risk advisory meeting of the world's national oil companies at a conference in Dubai.
Marsh said these state-owned enterprises manage roughly 80 percent of the world's oil supply and are rapidly growing in their importance to the global energy scene.
The Marsh National Oil Company Conference will feature speakers from Saudi Aramco, Petrobras, Statoil ASA, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and other organizations.
Brian Storms, Marsh's chairman and chief executive officer, will discuss emerging risk topics in the oil and gas industry to open the conference, which is being attended by senior officials, representatives and delegates from dozens of countries and will operate under the patronage of the ruler of Dubai.
Topics to be discussed during the two-day event include knowledge transfer among national oil companies, governance, measurement of enterprisewide risk, and operational challenges tied to cross-border investments.
Marsh is a subsidiary of the professional services firm Marsh & McLennan, based in New York.
