Insurance agencies Gowrie Barden & Brett of Westbrook, Conn., and Fisher & Fisher of Darien, Conn., said they have merged their firms.
The combined agencies will provide broad access to insurance markets and services for clients in Connecticut and throughout the United States, the firm said.
The new company, employing 80 people, will maintain offices in Darien, Westbrook and Enfield, Conn., and Middletown, R.I. The company declined to release financial figures.
Gowrie Barden & Brett is a provider of commercial and personal insurance products and services. Its subsidiary, Gowrie Brett & Young, specializes in employee benefits and financial services. The brokerage firm also specializes in marine insurance programs throughout the United States.
Fisher & Fisher specializes in personal insurance products and services. The agency will continue to operate under its own name as a division of Gowrie Barden & Brett.
