Roger M. Nulton Jr. has been named commercial business president for Novato, Calif.-based Fireman's Fund Insurance Company, the firm said.

Mr. Nulton, who had served as chief operating officer for the commercial business, succeeds Gary Bhojwani, who was named chief executive officer of Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America, a sister company to Fireman's Fund.

Mr. Nulton is responsible for the commercial business which produces $1.8 billion in annual premiums and has a focus on providing differentiated products and services for specific industry niches.

He joined Fireman's Fund in 1997 and served in several key management roles, including field executive for personal insurance and regional executive for commercial.

Mr. Nulton was affiliated for two years with St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance, and prior to that, for 12 years he was with Northbrook Property and Casualty Insurance.
