Itasca, Ill.-based insurance broker Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. has acquired Adams & Associates International Ltd. of Columbia, S.C. Terms of the deal were not released.
With roots going back to 1980, Adams & Associates is a retail insurance broker specializing in missionaries and non-profit organizations and related persons residing, traveling, and/or working outside of the United States. The firm said it offers property-casualty, accident, and medical insurance programs and related services to its clients throughout the world.
In last week's announcement, Gallagher said Harold H. Adams Jr., principal, and his staff of about 20 would continue to operate in their current location under the direction of David Marcus, vice president and Southeastern regional manager of Gallagher's brokerage services division–retail.
J. Patrick Gallagher Jr., chairman, president and chief executive officer, said the acquisition would be "a wonderful addition to our religious and non-profit niche programs."
