Pet owners have another insurance offering with Shure Pets offering pet insurance online.
The Boise, Idaho-based pet accessories purveyor will offer policies from Pets Best Pet Insurance to both its online customers and home sales representatives.
Andrew Shure, chief executive officer of Shure Pets, said with pets becoming like members of the family, insuring them is only natural.
“More and more pet owners are starting to see the logic and to start investing in pet insurance,” he said, adding that less than 1 percent of pet owners have pet insurance.
“The pet insurance industry is just in its infancy,” he said.
Pets Best Pet Insurance reimburses pet owners for the veterinarian they choose and offers four coverage plans. Policies are underwritten by General Fire & Casualty Insurance Co.
