Anastasia D. Kelly has been named American International Group Inc. executive vice president, general counsel and senior regulatory and compliance officer, the company said today.

Most recently, Ms. Kelly was executive vice president and general counsel of MCI/WorldCom, where she served as the chief legal officer from 2003 until MCI/WorldCom's merger with Verizon early in 2006.

Before her post with MCI/WorldCom, Ms. Kelly was senior vice president and general counsel of Sears, Roebuck and Co., managing corporate legal policy and strategy.

Earlier, she served as senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at Fannie Mae, and had been a partner and associate with the Washington, D.C. law firm of Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering.

At Fannie Mae and in her legal career at Wilmer Cutler, Ms. Kelly had extensive exposure to regulatory and compliance issues involving financial institutions and securities firms.
