American Re-Insurance Company will now be known as the Munich Re America Corp, the Princeton, N.J.-based carrier said today.
“With this name change, Munich Re is making a powerful statement about its support for its U.S. operations and its commitment to the U.S. market,” said John Phelan, chairman and chief executive officer of Munich Re America and a Munich Re board member.
Munich Reinsurance America Inc., Munich Re's largest reinsurance subsidiary, will continue to operate as a separate corporate entity in the U.S. market.
Munich-American RiskPartners will also use the Munich Reinsurance America name, and the division will be known as “Specialty Markets.”
The names of American Alternative Insurance Corporation and The Princeton Excess and Surplus Lines Insurance Company will not change.
