The National Insurance Crime Bureau recently named the top 10 states for motorcycle theft in 2005.
According to NICB, 70,613 motorcycles were stolen last year, a slight decrease from the 71,108 stolen in 2004. These numbers represent a loss of over $434 million to motorcycle owners and the insurance industry. Additionally, a motorcycle's base price sometimes exceeds $20,000 once details are added, yet recovery rates typically fall in the 25- to 30-percent range nationally.
The following are the top 10 states for motorcycle theft in 2005:
1. California
2. Florida
3. Texas
4. North Carolina
5. Ohio
6. Arizona
7. New York
8. Indiana
9. Georgia
10. Pennsylvania
