The Montana Captive Insurance Association said its annual conference next month will include discussions of the law governing risk retention groups, tax issues for captives and information about the Montana captive domicile.
MCIA said the conference Aug. 22-24 at the Summit Hotel, Big Sky, Mont., provides Continuing Legal Education credits.
Seminars include:
o The Future of the Federal Liability Risk Retention Act: The lead lobbyist from a national coalition representing risk retention groups will discuss the emerging debate in Congress as to whether the LRRA should be weakened or strengthened, given current market conditions and the GAO's findings.
o An update on tax issues affecting captives.
o An overview of key legal issues that should be considered when evaluating Montana as a domicile for a captive insurance/RRG program.
The association said the deadline for obtaining the discounted conference room rate is Aug. 1. Additional information about the conference and MCIA is available online at www.mtcaptives.org, or at 866-388-6242.
