The Professional Insurance Agents of New Jersey has selected Assemblyman Neil M. Cohen, D-Union, as its Legislator of the Year.
PIANJ said Assemblyman Cohen, who chairs the Assembly Committee on Financial Institutions and Insurance, was given the award in recognition of his outstanding leadership on the insurance issues facing independent, professional agents.
Mr. Cohen, the group said, has sponsored legislation that responds directly to concerns of PIANJ. He was the prime sponsor on legislation that protects agents' ownership rights during automobile insurance book transfers by insurance companies.
Also, Mr. Cohen recently introduced a bill to prohibit state agencies from including advertisements in public mailings because they create the false impression that the state endorses a product or service.
