David F. “Bud” Wilson was honored with the Woodworth Memorial Award during the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America's recent National Legislative Conference and Convention in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Wilson, a past-president of IIABA, is chief executive officer of Wilson Insurance Agency in Chula Vista, Calif.
“For decades, he has served his fellow agents and brokers, and he is the portrait of what [an IIABA] volunteer should be,” said IIABA President William Stiglitz.
Mr. Wilson urged agents gathered for the conference to continue to be involved via IIABA in government affairs and other areas of concern for agents, with the aim of ultimately benefiting consumers.
In addition to being a past IIABA president, Mr. Wilson has chaired the group's government affairs committee. At the state level, he was president of the Independent Brokers and Agents of the West and was its representative on the National Board of State Directors. He was also president of the Independent Insurance Agents of San Diego.
The Woodworth Award–the IIABA's highest honor–was established in 1925 in memory of C.H. Woodworth of Buffalo, N.Y., the group's second president. It is awarded annually to the IIABA member who “best demonstrates outstanding service benefiting independent insurance agents and the entire insurance industry.”
