Beecher Carlson, the Atlanta-based insurance brokerage, has acquired Cramer & Giles, an independent agency with offices in Eugene and Medford, Ore.

As a result of the transaction Cramer & Giles was merged with Beecher Carlson's existing Oregon-based business, JBL&K Risk Services.

The acquisition "is consistent with our vision to aggressively expand our presence in the Pacific Northwest region," said Tom Golub, president and chief executive officer at Beecher Carlson. The company expanded into the Pacific Northwest in May of 2005, when it acquired JBL&K Risk Services.

The companies said the transaction involved both cash and stock in Beecher Carlson. No other terms were disclosed.

Cramer & Giles will continue to operate under its own brand, and will maintain its Portland office. The agency's Medford office will be combined with JBL&K's existing facility there.

"Over the past 23 years Cramer & Giles has experienced progressive growth, and we look forward to continued growth in the future by leveraging the national resources, technical expertise and industry specialization of JBL&K and Beecher Carlson," said Ron Cramer, who co-founded the company.
