WASHINGTON–David F. “Bud” Wilson was honored today with the Woodworth Memorial Award during the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America's National Legislative Conference and Convention in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Wilson, a past-president of the association, is chief executive officer of Wilson Insurance Agency in Chula Vista, Calif.
“For decades, he has served his fellow agents and brokers, and he is the portrait of what [an IIABA] volunteer should be,” said William Stiglitz, IIABA president, in a statement. “We are very lucky to have such a leader as Bud Wilson in our midst.”
Mr. Wilson, visibly touched by the tribute, urged agents gathered for the association's legislative conference breakfast to continue to be involved in their government affairs and other association committees to work on issues of concern to agents with the aim of ultimately benefiting consumers throughout the country.
In addition to being a past IIABA president, Mr. Wilson has served as chairman of the association's government affairs committee. At the state level, he served as president of the Independent Brokers and Agents of the West and as its representative on the National Board of State Directors. He was also president of the Independent Insurance Agents of San Diego.
In receiving the award, Mr. Wilson was joined by his wife, Sandra, and his three sons, Brad, Matthew and Gregory.
The Woodworth Award was established in 1925 in memory of C.H. Woodworth of Buffalo, N.Y., the second president of the association. It is awarded annually to the IIABA member who best demonstrates outstanding service benefiting independent insurance agents and the entire insurance industry.
